More classic DIY punk rock from Leicester's near mythical Disco Zombies. This is great naive punk pop shit.Could only have been made in 1979 ,in the U.K,in a provincial Town, and never will be made again.

The Disco Zombies included bassist Geoff Dodimead, drummer Andy Fullerton, guitarist Johnny “Guitar” Hawkins, and vocalist/guitarist Andy Ross, until Dave Henderson -- who had done costume design for Derek Jarman's film Jubilee -- was added as a vocalist. The quintet recorded a four-track EP, but it went unreleased for some time; the mastering and pressing company that had a deal with their label went out of business. Minus Hawkins, the band moved to London and went through a couple more guitarists until Mark Sutherland stabilized the lineup. That version of the band recorded and released “Drums Over London” (1979) on Ross’ South Circular label; the A-side was a favorite of BBC DJ John Peel, who had to explain to Rock Against Racism that the band had made, as described by Henderson, “an ironic stab at people’s hostility to the arrival of other cultures.” The band’s first EP, The Invisible EP, was finally released later in the year. Fullerton split and was eventually replaced with a drum machine. Henderson used his own label, Dining Out, to release Disco Zombies' final piece of vinyl, “Here Come the Buts” (1980).

Dan from Acute here. We'd appreciate if you took down the link, as all those songs are currently in print and available from a variety of digital sources, along with a ton of unreleased and live material. More info here:

Lucky I've already got these then, eh?

you shouldn't say "in print" if you don't have any physical copies.

Dan from acute is a proper cock. I posted a Disco Zombies 7" a few weeks back (beat you to it) and this ass messaged within 5 minutes or so. He finds good (often obvious) disks and gives them a total shit reissue (cheap packaging, little if any interviews/documents, etc.). I even what how much of the returns find their way to the bands. It makes me want to post everything he's ever reissued.

You guys are hilarious. Cheap packaging with no documents? You are totally making shit up. Disco Zombies LP came with a 12 pg book, which also comes when you purchase the download. Happy Refugees was 16 pgs. All our CDs except the first one have lengthy booklets and liner notes. Trypes LP sleeve is hand-printed. We put a lot of effort into the packaging. A lot of effort and money into the remastering. etc.

And you're right, all our releases are totally obvious. Which is why they've been in print since the 70s.

And like most other small labels, 50% of our profit goes to the artist. Guess how much profit there is in remastering and re-releasing bands like these?

Look, you can make arguments that it is not "in print" because the vinyl sold out, even though it is still for sale, digitally, and that money goes to the artist as well as the label.

But if you make the argument that we're doing it for money and they we do a shit job and that we rip off the artists, well it just shows you have no idea what you're talking about.

Jerry Orbach- I'm only now seeing your response to my comment on your blog. You'll note first of all that I didn't as you to take it down, since it was just the one EP, I just asked if you'd include a link. Everyone seems satisfied that posting mp3s is such good promo for legit releases, so it would be great if such posts includes links to said release. There are countless blogs that have posted stuff on Acute that hasn't been taken down. It's only when somebody posts the bulk of a release, or more often than not, the entire thing, that I ask for it to be taken down.

And to answer both questions about how quick I responded, usually it's because I have google alerts on my releases, as much because I want to catch reviews or discussions, as well as illegal posts. But the truth in this case is that I subscribe to both of your blogs in my RSS feed.

Just want to say I'll be first in line to buy if there is a re-press of the vinyl. It went out of print in a blink and its not to be had from any US distributor or on discogs (though a lot of people want a copy) and downloads don't do it for me.

Jerry, you're the maaaan.
Sounds like there's no free copy of the Zombies coming my way as payment for the advertising link, so I won't be able to judge the quality,or lack of, of these releases.
And yes,we are Hilarious.
So I will allow your advertisement link to stay for the time being.
